Twenty Ten

I am a teacher who loves all things ICT.  I was considering calling myself a ‘Geek’ or ‘Nerd’ when it comes to all things computery…but I don’t think I am.  I just looked up geek and nerd on google and neither of them are that flattering…. A Geek has been defined as ‘..Short for computer geek, an individual with a passion for computers, to the exclusion of other normal human interests….’ A passion for computers, fine…. to the exclusion of other ‘NORMAL’ human interests…seems a tad harsh.  As for nerd, I haven’t been bullied for my passion, by my peers, so think I am safe.

I would honestly say that I like finding new tools and resources to play with and try and work out how I can use them in my lessons.  I also want to try and share that with my colleagues, which is another challenge altogether.

What I have realised is that the pupils I teach aren’t rushing out there to embrace new technologies, the wow factor doesn’t seem to work for them anymore… I think, sadly, the curiousity, has dimished.  They no longer seem to want to know why or how it happens.  However if you find the right tool, show them it in the right way… all is not lost.
